As part of our support of Basingstoke Consortium’s Skillstree programme, we recently took part in a Skills Day for Year 8 students at Hurst Community College in Tadley. Pupils took part in a series of workshops on topics including self-presentation and body language; team working and ‘First Impressions Count’.
Tracy Welch from Priorty Apointments ran an interactive workshop on the Do’s and Don’t of putting together a CV. Commenting on the Skills Day, Tracy said, “It was great to be able to work with the students to raise their awareness of what skills they will need in the future to make them more employable and how important these are. I was very chuffed when the school told me that our session on writing a good CV session was one of the pupils’ favourites.”
The Basingstoke Consortium is the Borough’s education business partnership and is an education charity that prepares young people for the world of work. To find out more about what it does, go to www.basingstokeconsortium.com.
