Giving Children at The Bluebells an Early Easter Treat

31st March 2016

East Egg Collection 2016

Along with a few of our many loyal clients, the team at Priority Appointments collected over 100 Easter eggs for the annual Easter Egg Hunt at The Bluebells in North Hampshire, the UK’s first purpose-built respite holiday home for families with a seriously ill child. The Bluebells is run by the charity Sebastian’s Action Trust, which provides support for families of seriously ill children from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond and offers them the chance for a break together, with help from specially-trained staff.

Over 160 families took part in the now traditional Easter Egg Hunt as part of a fun day for families in the grounds of The Bluebells.

Eggs which were not used in the hunt are being donated to ill children in hospital or at home who receive visits from Sebastian’s Action Trust outreach workers.

Chief Executive of the Trust, Jane Gates OBE, said, “It is wonderful to be able to give our families fun days out like the Easter Egg Hunt. It is important that families have time together, making memories and our events at The Bluebells help to do this. It’s not just about the children we support on days like today, it’s about the whole family and especially any siblings affected. We are so grateful for the generous donations we receive, as they help us to provide this valuable service to the families of seriously-ill children.”

Sebastian’s Action Trust is an incorporated charity based in Bagshot, Surrey. Developed from the vision of one very special nine-year-old boy and launched just twelve days before he died of cancer in 2003, Sebastian’s aim for the charity was to provide a place where life-limited children and their families can holiday together away from the rigours of hospital appointments, gruelling treatment schedules and prying eyes. He wanted to create a private place where memories could be made which would last a lifetime, even if that life was to be cruelly cut short.

The charity predominantly supports families in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Wiltshire and Hampshire.
