Design Engineer

As the Design Engineer you will process internal and external orders to generate manufacturing information, developing new products from concept to conclusion and working in conjunction with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction is met throughout the company. This role does require some travel so a Full UK License is essential.

As the Design Engineer you will be:

• Working closely with the product development team to assist and lead projects for the development of new product.
• Creating and updating manufacturing instructions (Drawings, BOM’s, Routings and Timings) to satisfy internal requirements.
• Creating both engineering and customer drawings to meet specific requirements.
• Developing new products from concept to conclusion and expanding the company portfolio.
• Leading large projects and providing detailed information to regular review meetings.
• Ensuring new products meet or exceed all relevant industry standards and ensuring all required testing has been completed prior to product release.
• Responding to and process change requests to implement design or manufacturing improvements.
• Compiling costing and feasibility data to support the sales department in response to enquiries.
• Supporting the sales team by providing product related information; including structural calculations, photo realistic renderings, site visits & meetings, bespoke project costings etc.
• Supporting production by resolving issues, enabling production quality and schedules to be maintained
• Leading shop floor improvement initiatives
• Assisting production by the creation of CAM programs (laser, punch, 3D printing)
• Representing the business in a professional, helpful and friendly manner
• Exploring and researching new manufacturing processes and technologies to improve products and processes
• Complying with all relevant industry standards


As the Design Engineer you will need:

• A relevant higher education degree or HND specific to the field.
• A commercial awareness of the relevant industry desirable
• Clear and precise communication skills in the format of verbal, written, remote or face to face activity.
• An ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation and with customers.
• The ability to interpret drawings and specifications to achieve ‘right first time’ customer response.
• To be competent in 2D and 3D CAD, CAM software ( Autocad and Solidworks ) and in relevant parts of the MRP system.
• Strong competency in core IT applications, primarily Microsoft office.
• Exceptional organisational skills and a methodical approach.
• To be highly motivated and task completion orientated.
• A Full UK License


Associated Benefits:

• £22,000 per annum
• Working hours: Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm

CAD Technician

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established, dynamic and growing company with a blue chip customer base in UK and international markets. We are looking for a self-motivated, talented and enthusiastic CAD Technician to join the team. You will be responsible for creating CAD models using Solidworks with creating product data sheets, installation instructions, engineering drawings and sample reports. The role offers the opportunity to work within a product sector that rapidly evolves and changes

As the CAD Technician, you will be:

• Creating CAD models using Solidworks based on concepts produced by our design team or CAD models based on our existing products.
• Creating engineering drawings using CAD models supplied by our Product Design team.
• Creating instruction leaflets using Solidworks Composer and Adobe InDesign.
• Producing data sheets of new and existing products for our Trade customers.
• Producing sample reports of products designed by our Design team to communicate issues to the vendor.
• Monitoring project milestones to meet scheduled launch dates using Smartsheet software in conjunction with Product management.
• Liaising with suppliers, internal and external customers during the design phase of the project.
• In control of drawings and product specifications for ISO9001 purposes.
• Creating technical reports.
• Inputting into existing technical support documentation, including product specifications and product data sheets.


As the CAD Technician, you will need:

• Excellent written English language skills.
• Experienced in Microsoft Office.
• A technical/engineering background.
• To be competent and experienced in Solidworks and Composer.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• A logical approach to problem solving and manufacturing limitations of design projects.
• To be experienced in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign).
