Our global client within the aerospace sector requires a dynamic and energetic buyer capable of solving the root cause of problems and delivering the solution. As the Strategic Buyer / Senior Buyer, you will be working within a fast paced purchasing and operations environment and will be able to manage and prioritise a number of issues. This is a highly varied role where project management, contract knowledge, negotiation and influencing skills will be utilised. This role is an opportunity for a buyer to progress to a new level where you'll be supported by a broad depth of experience within the supply chain team.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the security of the supply chain by managing and selecting high performing suppliers within distinct commodity groups reaching the required levels in support of overall business objectives. This is a strategic role, with actions driven by operational needs and risks identified by all levels within the supply chain as a whole.

As a Strategic Buyer / Senior Buyer will be:

• Managing a defined range of commodities and key suppliers driving improvements to the “5 Rights” in support of the business objectives.
• Taking responsibility for actions and keep hold of issues whilst delivering the solution to all root causes - not quick fixes.
• Communicating well as part of a team
• Ensuring queries are resolved quickly for the tactical level
• Identifying risk within the supply chain and managing the appropriate plans to address these in line with recognised tools and standards.
• Contributing to, and leading, key improvement projects related to systems and processes in use both within the department and cross-functionally.
• Performing business and performance reviews of suppliers
• Identifying and delivering cost down initiatives, period on period.
• Providing costs and viewing opportunities and alternatives providing long term lowest cost solution.
• Supporting and providing a commercial interface for purchase of non-production requirements.
• Providing support for NPI and Innovation projects

To succeed as a Strategic Buyer / Senior Buyer you will be/have:

• Previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, Aerospace/medium batch high variety
• Previous proven experience of managing sourcing solutions and supply chain problems within the external supply chain.
• Commercially astute
• Confident and have a professional manner when dealing with suppliers and internal customers
• Demonstrable experience and success in previous roles
• Task performance driven and keen to progress
• A strong individual capable of working on your own initiative whilst being a good team player
• Experienced in managing, interpreting and analysing purchasing data with strong IT skills.
• Familiar with using a MRP system in a manufacturing and production environment.

As the Strategic Buyer / Senior Buyer you will enjoy:

• 38k pa
• Flexible working hours - as long as you work 8 hours per day Monday - Thursday, you can start between 7.30am and 9.30am
• 2pm finish on Fridays
• Hybrid weekly work pattern - 3 days in the office and 2 working from home

Our client in the aerospace sector, requires a dynamic and energetic person with experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment. The main purpose of this role is to ensure supply of materials of known stocked items and of the suppliers within distinct commodity groups driving the performance the required levels in support of overall business objectives. Suppliers are measured using On Time and In Full (OTIF). The usual purchasing goals apply (part, quantity, quality, time & cost).

As an Operational Buyer will be:

• Raising purchase orders, managing through to delivery – expediting parts where needed
• Analysis of supply failures and corrective action
• Taking responsibility for actions and keep hold of issues whilst delivering the solution to all root causes - not quick fixes.
• Identifying risk within the supply chain and managing the appropriate plans to address these in line with recognised tools and standards
• Managing and maintaining the purchase orders working within the logistics team to ensure that the suppliers OTIF is not impacted when orders are split or pulled in.
• Ensuring that the business system has correct MRP parameters
• Inventory and stock turns are key to our business; this will be an important part of the buyers’ role in working with the supplier, operations and strategic buying in ensuring the correct balance of needs and cost.
• Performing business and performance reviews of suppliers
• Taking responsibility for a number of known ‘problem suppliers’, review history and take ownership for definition and delivery of actions
• Building and maintaining relationships with the suppliers
• Communicating clearly with the internal customers and managing their expectations
• Supporting colleagues and other duties as required
• Using principles of root cause analysis to support the implementation of corrective actions.
• Contributing to and leading key improvement projects related to systems and processes in use both within the department and cross-functionally.
• Maintaining electronic and physical filing, 5S and time management

To succeed as an Operational Buyer you will be/have:

• Strong understanding of an MRP system and the supply chain relevant parameters influencing and driving the operational excellence of the business.
• Previous purchasing experience for machined parts or electrical in a manufacturing environment, with preference for Aerospace/medium batch high variety
• Previous proven experience expediting and driving improvements to OTIF
• A confident and professional manner in dealing with suppliers and internal customers
• Task performance driven and tenacious
• A strong individual capable of working on own initiative whilst being a good team player
• Excellent PC skills and user knowledge of Microsoft Office – Excel skills should be very strong: Vlookup, pivot etc
• Ability to drive and travel to suppliers worldwide

• Report directly to the Head of Quality, identifying and rectifying and discrepancies and faults in the BMS

The successful Senior Quality Systems Engineer will have:

• An in-depth understanding of AS9100 and Part 21 Subpart G
• 5 years Practical experience in a similar role
