Senior Purchasing Manager

£60000 - £70000 per annum
60-70k pa, hybrid work pattern, on-site parking and canteen, 4pm finish on Friday and free parking on-site.

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Purchasing Manager to work from our client's Head Office in Basingstoke. The position has dual responsibilities: managing the UK Purchasing and Maintenance function and working within the Group's global indirect procurement team. The main purpose of this role is defining and implementing commodity strategies to deliver cost benefit to the business and ensure continuity of supply and will require managing both internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure full collaboration across the UK business.

As the Senior Purchasing Manager you will benefit from:

As the Senior Purchasing Manager you will:

• Manage the implementation of commodity strategies to deliver cost benefit to the business and ensure continuity of supply
• Establish relationships and deliver an effective and efficient service to internal/external customers and suppliers. Resolve supplier quality, serviceability and performance related issues.
• Lead team in ensuring all aspects of non production purchasing for UK sites are maintained
• Support Sales and Service Functions within UK and Ireland
• Manage negotiation processes and methodology and execute the procurement strategy for commodities, products and services including competitive benchmarking, supplier analysis, development, selection and aggregation of spend and pricing.
• Initiate and manage change through clear vision, communication, interpersonal and motivational skills, ability to influence others.
• Prepare an annual budget of price movements, increases and reductions, for approval by Director of Purchasing and to provide monthly reports on progress and issues
• Key Measurement control: Annual Purchasing Cost Movements; Number of suppliers
• Manage relationships with key suppliers
• Analyse, interpret and leverage spend and performance data
• Initiate and manage change through clear vision, communication, interpersonal and motivational skills, ability to influence others.
• Research the supply market and understand business drivers
• Understand key supplier capability and capacity
• Manage large contracts through regular contract reviews with suppliers
• Support the company's programme targets both for the UK and globally
• Report and present to Senior Management when required

To succeed as the Senior Purchasing Manager you will need:

• Experience managing and selecting suppliers (benchmark, negotiation, qualification) in accordance with the company's purchasing strategy and the overall business goals.
• Strong negotiating experience with demonstrable cost out record.
• Experience of identifying cost reductions, implementing innovative action plans and strategies.
• Data gathering and analysis of procurement and contract elements, Experience of ERP, ideally SAP.
• Strong team management skills with the ability to drive team performance.
• Motivational skills and the ability to influence others.
• Experience of ERP, ideally SAP (any S4Hanna would be advantageous).
• Experience managing a Procurement department of a large organisation.
• Thorough understanding of modern purchasing practices.
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
• Full UK driving licence with a flexible approach and willingness to travel
• Knowledge of a second European language would useful but not essential

• Understanding of nominal control, VAT returns and Bank reconciliations
• Excellent organizational, numeracy and literacy skills
• Exceptional eye for detail and process
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Friendly and enthusiastic team player.
• Self-motivated, able to work autonomously and willing to take the initiative.
