2. Milestones Museum
Discover the living history of Hampshire! Take a long lunch to explore the history of Basingstoke from the Victorian era to the 1940s. Buy some sweet tweets from the 1940s sweet shop with a ration ticket and pop in to The Baverstock Arms for a refreshment!
3. Eastrop Park
Take a stroll, go for a jog or have yourself a picnic in one of the country’s loveliest parks. A boating lake, a river and a tree trail, you’ll not be short of things to do. Try and spot the kingfisher that hunts along the River Lodden which runs through the park, and enjoy the scenic views.
It’s a beautiful place to spend your lunch break and Eastrop Park has been awarded a Green Flag Award 2018-19 for being one of the best parks in the country.
4. The Parlour Tearoom
Fancy a sweet treat? At The Parlour Tearoom you can enjoy some sandwiches and homemade cakes. It’s a cosy place with friendly team and a mouthwatering range of cakes. There are lots of delicious looking foods to choose from.
5. The Vyne
Have a wander around this historic country house and beautiful gardens. Explore the Chute family treasures of furniture, paintings and wall hangings. Enjoy a walk around the gardens in the summertime.
6. Jane Austen’s House Museum
A visit to Jane Austen’s former home is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the life of one of our greatest talents. Take a picnic and enjoy the relaxing English cottage garden. The museum gift shop is stocked with Jane Austen literature and souvenirs.
7. Basing Trail
Enjoy a walk on the Basing Trail past the Civil War site, Basing House, the Railway Viaduct and the Crabtree Plantation. Take in Basingstoke history and get some fresh air!
8. Basingstoke Sports Centre
Squeeze a workout into your day at the Basingstoke Sports Centre. The biggest gym in Basingstoke is found in Festival Place and boasts seven floors, two swimming pools and multiple fitness studios!
If you don’t fancy anything too strenuous, chill out in the health spa, which includes a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.
9. Festival Place
Meander around the shops and find big name brands and charming boutiques. Packed shops and plenty of dining options, you can combine a retail therapy session and eating plans into one lunch break.
10. THAT Gallery
Feel like taking in some art and culture? Pop into THAT Gallery, in Festival Place, and enjoy the eclectic range of paintings, sculptures, prints and ceramic art created by local artists.
